WAGNER - Bernice Marie Wagner.
It is with heartfelt sorrow that we announce the passing of our beautiful
mother Bernice Marie Wagner on April 20, 2004 following a long battle with
lung disease. Although in the last years her body was frail, her mind and
spirit were always strong. Throughout her life she met every challenge with
dignity, courage and optimism. Mom’s memory will be cherished by her family
and friends for her gentle, loving nature and inexhaustible warmth, kindness
and understanding. Her family was the most important thing in her life and
she dedicated herself to loving and caring for them to the fullest. Mom was
blessed by being a great-grandma nine days before her passing - Ehra Jade
was born Easter Sunday bringing her much joy. During her later years, she
had several health concerns and suffered considerable discomfort, but her
sense of humor prevailed until her last days. In August of 2002, Mom moved
from her home of 26 years to the Sunrise Village Seniors Complex where she
met new friends and old friends. She soon became the “bag lady” sewing gift
bags for everyone and the "bingo lady” for her involvement in organizing
weekend resident bingos. We are truly grateful for the kindness and the
quality of care she received as a resident of Sunrise Village. Our Mom has
now found comfort in God’s loving arms. She has earned her rest and now is
free of her earthly challenges. Mom will be lovingly remembered by her
three children, sons Marvin (Iris) Wagner and their children Nicole (Jason),
Erin, Derek and Courtney all of Yellowknife, N.W.T.; Ken (Karen) Wagner and
their children Lee, Brandy (Corey) and their daughter Ehra Jade all of Grand
Forks, BC; daughter Rhonda (Trevor) Dodd and their children Greg, Treena and
Brandon all of Olds; her sister Evelyn (Raymond) Schultz of Provost;
sister-in-law Ada Lind of Vermillion and brother-in-law Ed Kobsar of Grand
Forks, BC. Also mourning the loss of our Mom are her very close friends
Marj Fagan, Leola McBeath and June Saunders who for many years have kept
Mom’s spirits up with their coffee times. Mom was predeceased by her
husband Harold in April 1999, her sister Lucille and brother Irvin.
I'M FREE
"Don't grieve for me, from pain I'm free,
I'm following the path God has laid, you see.
I took His hand when I heard His call
I turned around and left it all.
I could not stay
another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way,
I found the peace on a sunny day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys.
A family shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the
sunshine of tomorrow.
My life’s been full, I've savored much,
Good family, good times, a loved one’s touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief.
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief,
Lift up your hearts, and peace to thee.
God wanted me now; From pain I'm free.”
Memorial services were held on Friday, April 23, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. in the
