Obituaries

SEVRENS - Leland, 'Jake' Case Sevrens passed away peacefully on December 2,
2004 with his daughters by his side.
Jake was born at Foremost, Alberta on September 14, 1914. He was the fourth
child of Eugene and Mabel Sevrens.
Jake purchased his farm in James River in 1938, where he met a school
teacher Jean Ralston. They were married in 1939. Lavaine joined the family
in 1940 and Leone in 1944. They resided at the homestead 'Down by the River'
for 52 years, then moved to their retirement home in Sundre.
He is survived by his daughters Lorraine (Raymond) Cardine, Leone (Ed) of
Salmon Arm, B.C; 6 grandchildren Ella (Gary) Cardine, Rose (Albert)
Caroline, Tammy Lacombe, Leland Cardine, Brian (Rosa), Edna (Wayne); 12
great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; special friend Grace; 7
siblings Emogene of Calgary, Bill (Edna) of Sundre, Myrtle (Nat) of
California, Tom (Marie) of Cochrane, Leda of Calgary, Beulah of Sedgewick
and Shirley (Marlin) of Calgary. Jake was predeceased by his wife Jean in
1994, his parents Eugene and Mabel and two sisters Lucille and Lorraine.
Donations may be made to the Rosefield Centre, the Sundre Hospital or the
charity of one's choice.
A Funeral Service will be held from the Faith Lutheran Church in Sundre,
Alberta on Monday, December 6, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor A.V. Granberg
officiating. Jake will be laid to rest in the Sundre Cemetery alongside his
wife Jean and his uncle John Case.

ERICKSON (DODD) - Lois Marilyn - Our Beloved mother passed away peacefully
at the Windsor Manor Care Center in Kelowna, B.C. on Dec. 1, 2004 at the age
of 64 years. Lois was the youngest child of the late Walter and Eva Dodd of
Olds, AB. She is survived by her companion Daniel Thompson, and her
daughters Sharon Allred (Scott), Traci Dagg (Gary) and son Bradley, and
their father Edward Erickson. She had nine grandchildren, Jared, Seth,
Jordan, Brittany, Luke, Cassandra, Holly, Shelby, and Emma. She will be
missed by her sisters Doreen (Al) Brunner. Louise (Vic) Kobberstad and
Delores (Paul) Bluck and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was raised on a farm east of Olds and attended Bennett School and Red
Deer Composite High School. She was employed by Air Canada in Winnipeg and
Calgary. She retired to Kelowna, B.C. and recently lived at the Windsor
Manor where she received outstanding care. We are ever so grateful for the
staff there.
Memorial services will held at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Olds, AB
on Thursday Dec. 9 at 1:00 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to
Windsor Manor Care Center for equipment needed for patient care, 355 Terai
Ct. Kelowna, B.C. V1X 5X6.

HELM, Jacob (Jack) passed away peacefully at the age of 93 years on December
7, 2004 at Central Park Lodge, Medicine Hat.
Born on March 11, 1911, Jack was the last surviving child of Katrina and
Jacob Helm. Jack is survived by wife Maggie of Medicine Hat, daughter Jane
Gorda of Edmonton, granddaughter Jennie (Jason) Cook of Edmonton, great
granddaughter Jordan Cook, sister-in-law Polly Helm of Burstall and numerous
nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife Esther in 1977,
daughter Rita in 1995, son-in-law Morris in 2000 and brothers Chris, Andy,
Henry, John and Adam and sister Pauline.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 10, 2004 at 1:00 p.m.
from Mountain View Funeral Chapel, 5226 - 46 Street, Olds with Gary
MacDonald officiating. Interment will follow at the Olds Cemetery. If
friends desire, donations may be made to Central Park Lodge, Medicine Hat.
