In Loving Memory of
Joseph Michael Clark
August 7, 1926 to February 5, 2003
Laid to Rest February 10, 2003
beside His Loving Wife, Rosie.....
To Dad,
My memories go back this far
To when I was the age of three
The beginning of all the skating rinks, Dad,
That you have made for me.
I know you loved the game so much
So what were you to do?
But hope your son would follow up
And love the game as much as you.
The dedication that you and Mom had
Taking my teammates and me to play,
It just didn't matter what the weather was like
There was nothing would get in your way.
All my childhood years being on the farm
There was always something to do
And I just couldn't wait to get off that bus
Just so I could be with you.
All the fishing trips that we went on
Just Mom and you and me,
Sometimes we would catch our limit
Sometimes only two or three.
But it never mattered how many we caught
When we got home I was always glad,
To yet have the memories of another day
And of all the fun that we had.
When you were young you started to curl,
I know you loved it from the start,
But that's also when you met my Mom
And to you that was the best part.
You curled for many years together
I know you enjoyed them, every one
I spent a lot of time at that rink,
And I got hooked when I saw YOU have fun.
I know you were a real sports nut, Dad,
Because you also played lots of ball,
Your career started at Waterside,
And ended with your buddies by Eagle Hill Hall.
You were always such a hard-working man
I know the work came before the fun
You were just like that all your life, Dad,
Which made me proud to be your son.
There will be many times when I'm working the field,
I know I'll just start to cry,
Thanking of all the good times we had,
You and Mom, Uncle Al and I.
I'll never forget all the good times we had
I will treasure them all of my life,
But losing the best friend I ever had
Makes me feel like I've been cut with a knife.
Things are going to be tough as life goes on,
There will always be some pain,
But we won't stop, we'll keep moving on,
Always knowing we will meet again.
Your best friend and Son,
Dick

KLINE- Warren Leroy Kline of Olds passed away on February 15, 2003 in the Olds Hospital at the age of 77 years following a month long illness.
Warren is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Irene and their daughter Marg. He is also survived by one sister Alice (Gordon) Park of Three Hills, one brother Melvin (Clara) Kline of Torrington and a special nephew Dennis (Judy) Kline. Dennis was like Warren and Irene’s second child and Warren valued Dennis’s support as both a nephew and friend.
Warren is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Warren was predeceased, by his parents, George Leroy in 1967 and Elsie in 1974, a sister Ethel Ruby Rueb in 2002 and a brother Alva Clarence Kline in 1929.
Warren was born on April 13, 1925 in Mayton Alberta east of Olds. Warren spent the majority of life farming the same farmland, first as a young boy under the guidance of his grandfather and later with his daughter Marg as the two shared the duties of operating the family farm.
Warren had a great love for his livestock and through animal husbandry skills learned from his grandfather Warren provided valuable assistance to his own and neighbors livestock when they were sick or injured.
As Warren battled his own health problems his concerns were centered on his family and his livestock. His wish was to be able to be home in time for his favorite time of year, “calving season”.
In addition to being a loving husband, Warren was a loving and supportive father. He and wife Irene travelled to many of Marg’s sporting activities including baseball, ladies hockey and more recently to the local curling rink to cheer on their number one star. Warren often talked of stopping in at the local golf club so that he could get the “hang of golf”, Marg’s favorite summer sport.
In addition to cheering Marg on in her many sport pursuits he also took the time to teach her valuable skills when it came to the farming industry, how to fix farm equipment that had broken down at the worst possible time, how to pick out a top notch bull at a production sale, how to train her horses and when was the best time to seed the crop.
Marg gained a love for sports from her father. During Warren’s youth many a winter day was spent on the giant sized skating rink at the Kline farm that Warren and his brother made each winter. At times as many as 100 people could be found, playing shinny hockey and just plain having fun on the Kline skating rink.
Warren's love of hockey was a benefit to the community’s Junior A Hockey Club, the Olds Grizzlys. Warren volunteered as a security person and goal judge for the hockey team for a total of eighteen seasons. When not at a Grizzlys hockey game you could catch Warren in front of the television set cheering on his favorite NHL team, the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Warren loved to play cards and he spent many a Monday evening playing crib at the Olds Legion. There was always a special “twinkle in his eye” those times when he was able to tell Irene and Marg that he had “ skunked” his opponent. Warren’s skill at crib lead to an opportunity for he and partner Harvey Hawthorn to compete in the Alberta Seniors Games hosted by the towns of Olds and Didsbury. He was very proud of the bronze medal he and his partner earned.
Warren will be missed by all who knew him.
A private family graveside service will take place Wednesday morning, February 19, 2003 at the Olds Cemetery.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday February 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the Olds Legion.
