ROSS - Everett C.
It is with sadness the family announces the passing of their father,
grandfather and great grandfather. Everett passed away at his home on
December 29, 2004 at the age of 92 years.
He was born at Foremost, Alberta on October 19, 1912, a son to Ben and
Carrie Ross. He married Beatrice Tanner in 1937. They farmed in the
Hainstock district until 1969 when they sold the farm and moved to Salt
Spring Island and built their home. After several years on the Island, they
moved to Abbotsford. This move was due to Beatrice's poor health.
Everett will be sadly missed by his daughter Phyllis (Gordon) Leach,
Abbotsford; his son Carman (Dianne) of Washington and Abbotsford; his
brothers Scotty (Lois), Bill (Dorothy), and sister Hazel, all of Olds.
He was predeceased by his parents, his wife of 61 years, three brothers,
Cleo, Ken and Dutch and their wives, a brother-in-law, Norval Holmes, and a
grandson, Gordon Featherstone. He is survived by several nieces and
nephews, grand and great grandchildren.
At the request of the deceased there is to be no funeral. If desired,
memorials may be given to the Cancer Society - Box 2574, Stn Main, Calgary,
AB T2P 9Z9.

JONES - Robert Clarence Jones passed away January 22, 2005 (6:35 P.M.) at
the Foothills hospital in Calgary at the age of 67 after a lengthy battle
with kidney failure. He is survived by, his wife Linda Jones (nee Bernes)
and children Sherry Wirsig (Phil Byrt), Debbie Jones (Mike Verweire), Bobby
Jones two grandchildren Kayla and Jennifer Wirsig and his sisters Violet
Preston (Gordon) and Erla Pitt (Steve). He is pre-deceased by his mother
Violet May Fenn (nee Church) 1973, step father Earl Fenn 1975, father Albert
Jones 1977, sister June Sarrazin (nee Jones) 1990, brother William J. Jones
1991 and sister Audrey Cummings (nee Jones) 1997.
Robert was born in Toronto, Ontario on July 18, 1937 and raised on a farm in
the Madoc, Ontario area. He worked in a variety of jobs during his lifetime
including working in the oil patch under the direction of Red Adair. He
served 6 years as a rifleman in the Canadian Armed Forced and honorably
discharged in 1959. He worked as a orderly at G.F. Strong Rehabilitation
Hospital (paraplegic) in Vancouver and in Calgary at the General Hospital
and Calgary Fanning Centre. Robert went on to live in Irricana in 1979
where he worked for Rockyview School Division as Head Caretaker at Beiseker
Community School for 18 years, when he took early retirement do to ill
health.
Robert was married to Linda Jones (nee Bernes) in Tweed, Ontario on June 22,
1968. He always loved to go camping, hiking and being around horses. He
loved country music, dancing and socializing. He was a member of the
Irricana Lions Club and enjoyed volunteering at Pioneer Acres.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday January 29, 2005 at the Irricana
Community Hall at 2:00 P.M.
Honorable pall bears; Per Rasmussen, Brian Bernes, Bruce Bernes, Gordie
Hougard, Mike Verweire and Phil Byrt. The memorial will be officiated by
Colleen Farrell.
We would like to give special thanks to the Olds Renal unit and staff, Dr.
Izak Claasen and staff of Airdrie. Dr. Nairin Scott-Douglas and staff in
Calgary, Dr. Randy Moore and staff in Calgary. Also all the staff at the
Foothills Hospital Special Services unit 37.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Olds Hospital Renal Unit or the
Olds Sunshine Bus (town of Olds) or any charity of your choice.

SHEARER - Dorothy (Dot) Elizabeth Shearer of Edmonton passed away on January
15, 2005 at the age of 83 years.
Dot, Gerry and family lived in Olds from 1955 - 1971. Dot was a very active
member of the Olds Oil Wives Club, holding many positions on the executive.
She looked forward to the yearly conventions that were held in BC, AB and
Sask. She was also a member of the Olds Hospital Auxiliary. Dot and Gerry
moved to Calgary in 1971 and after Gerry passed away in 1977 Dot moved to
Edmonton to be near her family. She continued to belong to the Sherwood Park
Oil Wives Club. Dot moved into the Jubilee Lodge in 1998, where she lived
comfortably and was visited daily by her family.
Dot is survived by her children Terry Shearer of Fort Saskatchewan, Rick
Shearer of Edmonton and Jackie Camp of Edmonton; four grandchildren Robby,
Jennifer, Tanya and Melissa; and two great grandchildren Brittanie and
Braeden.
She was predeceased by her husband Gerry in 1977 and siblings Chester,
Walter, Earl, Winnie and Bessie.
If desired, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or
the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. A Funeral Service was held on Friday,
January 21, 2005 from Mountain View Funeral Home, Olds with Reverend Dong
Chun Seo officiating. Interment followed at the Olds Cemetery. Funeral
