JUDKINS - Woodrow Wallis passed away April 17, 2002 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was born in Spokane, Washington in 1914, came to Canada with his family and grew up in Eagle Valley.

Woodrow finished his high school in Olds, Alberta. He went back to the U.S.A. and joined the navy for 25 years. After that, he got his Pharmaceutical Degree then became a lawyer. After that he was appointed a Professor of Math and taught at UCLA for many years.

He then went back on the ships to teach the sailors math continuing well past is 80th birthday.

Woodrow is survived by two sisters Loretta (Freeland) Ekiss and Maxine Gwen Trahan, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by one sister Geraldine Van Wyk and one brother Harold Judkins.

Arrangements taken care by SHIP Veterans National Society, Interred in Veterans National Cemetery in Spokane, Washington.


JACKSON- Stanley Jackson passed away peacefully at the Olds Hospital June 3, 2002.

He was born December 14, 1916 at the family farm at Westerdale. He was the youngest of 5 sons born to Arthur and Elizabeth Jackson. He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Olive; 3 children, Wayne (Pauline) Jackson of Olds; Cheri (Frank) Jahnke of Sundre, Reece (Susan) Jackson of Calgary; eight grandchildren, Jennifer and Jason Jackson, Heather, Brianna and Steven Jahnke, Christopher, Geoffrey and Lauren Jackson.

He was predeceased by his parents and his four brothers, George, Harry, Frank, and Ralph. He took his schooling at Westerdale and stayed at the family farm established by his grandfather and father in 1902. His family, cattle and crops were the great loves of this honest, hard-working man.

In his younger years, he played baseball and hockey for the Westerdale teams. Later he enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren in their endeavors of sport, music and academics.

Stanley was active on the Westerdale United Church Board, Young Peopleís Club and Harmattan Mutual Telephone Company.

In 1990, Stan and Olive retired and moved into Olds where he held Grizzlys seasons tickets and enjoyed pool games with his new neighbors. His integrity and dry sense of humor were appreciated by all.

He will be sadly missed by family and friends. Funeral services were held on Friday, June 7, 2002 at 2:00 p.m. in the Olds United Church with Reverend Malcolm Profitt and Reverend Sue Hertell officiating.

Interment followed in the Westerdale Cemetery.
