GJERDE
- Linda Jeanette Gjerde beloved wife of Gerald Gjerde, passed away on
July 4, 2003 at the age of 54 years. Besides her loving husband, Linda is
survived by one son and one daughter; Shawn (Leanna) Gjerde of Bowden,
Alberta, Tracy (John) Barbas and grandson William Barbas of Vancouver, B.C.
Also surviving are Linda’s parents, Jack and Alice Cowell, Saskatoon, Sask;
two brothers and three sisters, Richard (Louise) Cowell, Kindersley. Sask.,
Louise (Larry) Fedirko, Regina, Sask., Danny (Carol) Cowell, Rose Valley,
Sask., Debbie (Dale) Evjen, Saskatoon, Sask., Lana (Gordon) Dalshaug,
Saskatoon, Sask.
Linda Jeanette Gjerde was born September 23, 1948 to proud parents Jack and
Alice Cowell. She graduated at Rose Valley High School in June 1967. Linda
went on to the University of Saskatchewan to pursue a career as a Lab Tech
in the hospital.
Linda married Gerald Gjerde, her high school sweetheart April 13, 1968. From
that union two amazing children were born. Shawn and Tracy were definitely
the highlight in Linda’s life. Recently she had another addition to her
family, which totally inspired her. William, her first grandson was an
experience that gave her even more strength.
Creativity, versatility and entrepreneurial spirit were just a few of the
strengths that drove Gerald and Linda on their ever-changing pursuit of
success.
As the tides of life transpired, Linda continually sought out challenges
with an exuberance that could be matched by no one. Her strength and humour
radiated a positive influence on all those who touched her life, and there
were many.
Being a leader in all her pursuits, Linda was a major part of the 4-H club
in Saskatchewan. She bred, showed and trained horses for a number of years
while farming with her parents.
In February 1986 Linda and Gerald moved to Olds. Alberta to open a
photography shop. They became a part of the community quickly as they forged
ahead building many powerful relationships.
Linda’s passion for horses led her on a journey of learning, teaching,
coaching and building strong friendships. She excelled in her connection
with animals as well as people. She had a keen interest in training horses
with body language using absolutely no restraints. She rode with no reins or
halter. She always led by your side, never in the lead.
Linda always gave so much of herself in everything she did. Living in
Vancouver was yet another source of learning and teaching for her. Her need
to help others was evident in the hypnosis clinic they ran.
Recently the couple returned to the Calgary area to pursue yet another
enterprising experience. A new page of learning was unfolded before her. She
embraced this chapter like all new adventures she loved.
Family and friends were of the greatest importance to her. And now a new
tide has come in. What was so strong is now stronger spiritually. Never to
be forgotten, always to be cherished.
