SILBERER - Janette Marion
(nee Landeen).
Janette passed away on Saturday, August 30th, 2003 at the age of sixty,
beloved wife of Wilfried (Willy).
Born in Calgary, Alberta on December 16, 1942. She and her husband of
forty
years farmed West of Olds.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her son, Vyeko and wife Sandra, and
their
children Kelby, Emilie, Hayden and Melissa of Cambridge, Ontario; son
Jeffery of Olds; son Andrew and wife Tracy of Olds and their children
Elan
and Sean; daughter Stephanie and husband Kevin Cullen and their children
Madeline and Zoe of Olds; daughter Vanessa of Olds.
In addition to her husband, children and their families, she is survived
by
her sisters Ora and husband James Findlay of Westcott; Sherry of Didsbury;
Wendy and husband Doug Bolduc of Kelowna, and many nieces and nephews
in
Alberta and abroad.
Cremation has taken place, and in keeping with Janette's wishes there
will
be no service. In lieu of flowers if friends so desire, donations may
be
made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
Special thanks goes to the staff at the Olds Extended Care Facility
for
making Janette's final days comfortable.

COOMBER - Ernest John.
It is with great sorrow that the family of Ernest John Coomber announces
his
passing on September 4, 2003 at the age of 51 after a long courageous
battle
with lung disease.
Ernest will be remembered for being a loving and caring individual who
was
admired for his courage, sense of humor, kindness and unyielding devotion
to
his family and friends.
Ernest was born on October 3, 1951 in Hamilton, Ontario where he was
raised
and educated. Ernest spent most of his working years as a plumber.
He loved golfing, fishing and camping.
In 1979, he moved to Calgary. While living there, he met and married
Marlene
(nee Robinson). In 1982, they moved to Olds. In 1997, Ernest was diagnosed
with chronic obstructed pulmonary disease. His health continued to fail
and
in May 2001, he received a second chance at life and was the recipient
of a
lung transplant.
This gift gave him a chance to spend a great deal of time with his family
and allowed them to fully appreciate the courageous man he was.
Ernest leaves to mourn his beloved wife of 21 years, Marlene; their
lovely
daughters Elizabeth, Rachel and Erica; his children from his first marriage,
Sheri-Lyn (Brian), Melanie, step-son Brent and grandchildren Ashley,
CJ and
Justin; his mother Pearl; sisters Teresa and Cathy.
Ernest was predeceased by his father, Norman.
Memorial services were held on Tuesday, September 9, 2003 at 2:00 p.m.
in
the Olds United Church with Reverend Blair Whyte officiating.

OVERGUARD - Jean (nee Jackson). February
20, 1913 - September 6, 2003.
Jean passed away peacefully at the Didsbury and District Health Services.
Jean was born in Milbourne near Newcastle-on-Tyne, England.
In 1926 her family emigrated to Canda to settle on a farm at Sundre,
Alberta.
She married Stanley Wilfred Overguard in 1941. Wilf and Jean farmed
north of
Sundre and later moved into Sundre.
After the passing of her husband and with her children grown, Jean moved
to
Victoria, B.C. in 1969. She resided there for 21 years, sharing 8 of
those
years with her brother Hugh Jackson. In 1991, she returned to Alberta
and
made her home with her sister Mary. Later she moved to Olds to be nearer
to
her children and grandchildren.
Jean is predeceased by her husband Wilf in 1960 and by her parents and
nine
brothers.
She is survived by her sister Mary Gallagher of Calgary; Sister-in-law
Nancy
(Dick) Jackson of Victoria, B.C.; her son Robert (Gloria) Overguard,
and
grandchildren Lisa and Joel of Rocky Mountain House. Daughter Joan Moore
of
Olds, granddaughter Kimberley (Carsten) Mildensteine, Waldheim,
Saskatchewan; Grandson Craig (Angie) Moore of Olds. Four great grandsons
Cole and Travis Moore, Derreck and Tristen Mildensteine.
Jean was a lifetime member of the Royal Purple Lodge, and a very active
member in both the Sundre and Victoria Lodges. Her church gave her strength
through her journey throughout her life.
Jean loved the outdoors. Her quit wit, sense of humor, and wisdom was
enjoyed and appreciated by everyone who new her.
A memorial service was held at the Sundre United Church, Monday, September
15th at 2 p.m. Rev. Blair Whyte officiating.

WRIGHT - Ferdinand Frederick (Fred) Wright
passed away in Olds on September
14, 2003 surrounded by love at the age of 73 years.
Fred was born November 8, 1929 in Olds and was raised on the family
farm in
the Harmattan area.
Fred loved sports as a youth and played on various hockey and baseball
teams. In May of 1949, he married Joy Wayant and they lived on the farm
where they raised their 5 children; the twins Keith and Ken, Leonard,
Brenda, and Garry.
Fred worked hard on the farm but found time for the occasional Sunday
picnic
out west. He enjoyed calling bingo at the Legions in Sundre and Olds
as well
as going on senior bus trips. Fred enjoyed the activities of all his
grandchildren and was very pleased to have been able to hold his
great-granddaughter born this past April.
Fred was predeceased by his wife Joy in 1998, parents Louis and Julia,
brothers Garfield and Kenny and sisters Nellie and Vivian.
His memory will be forever carried in the hearts of his loving family,
his
sons Keith of Olds, Ken of Olds, Leonard of Victoria, B.C., and Garry
(Melanie) of Calgary; daughter Brenda (Dennis) Chrest of Olds; grandsons
Shelby (Alicia), Darby and Bronson; granddaughter Dianah and great
granddaughter Kennedy Joy; brother Everett Wright of Olds; sisters Virginia
Craig of Olds, Louise Phillips of Sundre and Patty (Wilfred) Schneidmiller
of Didsbury, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life was held on Friday, September 19, 2003 at 11:00
a.m.
in the Faith Lutheran Church, Sundre, with Pastor A.V. Granberg officiating.
A private family inurnment was held prior to the service at the Sundre
Cemetery.
